The Changes of Lymphocytes in Peripheral Blood and CEA in Serum According to the Delayed Cutaneous Hypersensitivity to DNCB and PPD in Patients with Unresectable Stomach Cancer

Abstract
For the assessment of cell-mediated immunity in 101 patients with unresectable stomach cancer, the peripheral lymphocytes, total and active T-lymphocytes, and the delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction to DNCB, PPD, and CEA were checked.
The results were summarized as follows;
1) Enumeration of the number of peripheral blood lymphocytes and total and active T-lymphocytes showed progressive decrease according to the weakening reaction of DNCB and PPD.
2) The results of DNCB test in 50 patients were available to analysis and it showed that 36 out of the 50 had weak reaction(72%) and 11 out of the 36 had anergy reaction whereas 14 out of the 50 had positive reaction.
3) The results of PPD test in 63 patients were available to analysis and it showed that 34 out of the 63 had negative reaction(53%) and 29 out of the 63 had positive reaction.
4) The mean of peripheral lymphocytes in 101 patients with unresectable stomach cancer were 1468.5¡¾721.3/mm3. In weak group(under 2+) of DNCB test, peripheral lymphocytes were 1077.4¡¾619.6/mm3. In positive group(above 3+) they were 1799.2¡¾683.7/mm3. In negative group to reaction of PPD test were 1284.5¡¾498.3/mm3. In positive group they were 1399.0¡¾698.4/mm3.
5) The mean of total T-lymphocytes were 744.1¡¾369.9/mm3. In weak group of DNCB test, total T-lymphocytes were 614.7¡¾402.0/mm3. In positive group they were 818.7¡¾360.2/mm3. In negative group to reaction of PPD test were 656.9¡¾320.0/mm3. In positive group they were 715.7¡¾356.1/mm3.
6) The mean of active T-lymphocytes were 432.7¡¾271.5/mm3. In weak group of DNCB test, active T-lymphocytes were 333.5¡¾184.7/mm3. In positive group they were 572.6¡¾493.2/ mm3. In negative group to reaction of PPD test were 378.6¡¾204.7/mm3. In positive group they were 402.6-207.1/mm3.
7) Level of CEA in 42 patients showed that 17 out of the 42 had under 2.5ng/ml and 25
out of the 42 had above 2.5ng/ml.
8) The mean of CEA were 8.6¡¾13.7ng/ml. In weak group of DNCB test, CEA were 11.1 ¡¾15.5ng/ml. In positive group they were 5.1¡¾3.8ng/ml. In negative group of Pi¢¥D-test, CEA were 10.2¡¾16.5ng/nil. In positive group they were 7.1¡¾1g.1ng/ml.
